about the artist

Antti-Ville Reinikainen

Antti-Ville Reinikainen (b. 1980, Turku, Finland) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice revolves around spatial, atmospheric, and multi-layered sculptural works. Known for his innovative use of materials, Reinikainen seamlessly blends a variety of techniques, frequently venturing into new creative territories while often revisiting his foundational skills in painting and drawing. His art delves into profound themes, such as the boundaries of human connection and memory, the dynamics of power—both its use and misuse—existential fears of finality, and the solace found in kindness and nature. Despite the weight of these themes, his works are imbued with an engaging, often playful, and distinctly dark humor.

Reinikainen holds a Master of Arts in Fine Arts from the University of Arts and Design Helsinki (now Aalto University) and a Bachelor of Arts from the Institute of Fine Arts at Lahti Polytechnic.

He currently lives and works in Helsinki, Finland.
